Research Fee Structure and Plot Requests

  • All fees collected will be deposited into the specific Center account to be used for operational expenses such as salaries of staff, buying supplies, equipment repair and maintenance, and new equipment purchases/rentals.
  • Deadline to pay Fees will be February 29th unless prior arrangements have been made.
  • Previous years fees must be paid in full before any new work requests at any center will be approved.
  • Disputed fees must be discussed with the center manager to reconcile. If fees are still not agreed upon then the Director of the University farms will mediate and make a final decision.
  • Failure or refusal to pay fees will result in the Dean of CALPS choosing a BP of the PI and transferring the funds to the proper University Farms BP.
  • Bellville Research Center

    1. Basic fee of $150 per acre. Fee includes dry fertilizer. All other work is performed by PI’s staff. Acres that are crop destruct or do not produce a harvestable/marketable crop will be charged the $150 fee IN ADDITION TO the centers average yield for that crop. This fee will be capped at $500 per acre including $150 standard fee.
    2. Fuel usage by programs will be recorded and billed at the end of the season.
    3. UAN solution usage by programs will be billed at the end of the season.
    4. Standard fee of $500 per acre. Fee includes fuel, basic fertilization, basic weed management including pre and one post, insect management if needed, seedbed preparation, seed, planting, and harvesting. Majority or all work is performed by center staff. This fee will also cover crop destruct, saved seed, and trials that do not have a harvestable or marketable crop.
    5. Any specific seed or chemical not on hand must be provided by PI.
    6. Equipment use from individual programs must be negotiated between PIs.
    7. Rental equipment used by programs will be billed the hourly rate paid by the center.
    8. The center manager will meet with each research group to review plot requests and decide feasibility. Plot requests will need to be approved by the Center Manager and the University Farm Director.
    9. Any work in addition to, or extending beyond, the items listed in D. must be negotiated BEFORE plot requests are approved.
    10. Deadline for plot requests will be March 30th. Request after deadline will be approved at the discretion of the Center manager and the University Farm Director.
  • West Unit (part of ARC)

    1. Standard fee of $100 per acre
    2. Fee includes ARC and Farms equipment usage.
    3. Fuel usage by programs will be billed at end of the season.
    4. Acres that are crop destruct or do not produce a harvestable/marketable crop will be charged the $100 fee IN ADDITION TO the Universities Farms average yield for that crop. This fee will be capped at $500 per acre including $100 standard fee.
    5. Equipment use from individual programs must be negotiated between PIs.
    6. Any work or needs other than ones listed above will be negotiated BEFORE plot requests are approved.
    7. Deadline for plot requests will be March 30th. Request after deadline will be approved at the discretion of the Center manager and the University Farms Director.
